Benjamin Foods and CEO Howard Klayman Profiled by Business In Focus Magazine

Posted: October 19, 2016

When writer Mark Golombek and the editorial staff at Business In Focus Magazine approached Benjamin Foods to do a profile on our CEO and President, Howard Klayman, we were understandably a little cautious.

After all, this would be the first time the full stories of Benjamin Foods, its meteoric growth, and the rise of the visionary in the driver’s seat would be told in one place.

Business in Focus Magazine Profiled Benjamin Foods CEO Howard Klayman

But with the cooperation of our Marketing Manager, Charles Carfagno, we think Mark did a great job of capturing what makes Benjamin Foods an inspirational success story and how Howard’s vision has both carried and defined the company over the last decade.

Below is an excerpt from the piece in the magazine’s October 2016 edition:

Business in Focus Magazine October 2016 Cover

“When his employer balked, Howard decided, ‘Fine – I’m going to start my own business.’ He is a world-class sales professional but also possesses keen vision and big ideas. Revenue growth of 18.11 percent from 2013-2015 was good enough to place Benjamin Foods on the list at No. 43.

“Benjamin Foods is honored and thrilled to be an award winner in the Philadelphia Business Journal’s inaugural ’50 on Fire’ 2016 program,” said Benjamin Foods President and CEO, Howard Klayman. “Considering that the winners include large, established and publicly traded companies; it actually makes our placement even more significant as a privately-held company.” He added, “Congratulations to the Business Journal on a job well done. At Benjamin Foods we’re looking forward to an exciting 2017 as we’ll be celebrating our tenth anniversary, ‘Ben Turns Ten’. The Business Journal will continue to be a go-to resource for us, as it has been over the course of our exciting history.”

The “50 On Fire’ rankings are derived from averaging the percent change in revenue from 2013 to 2014 and the percent change from 2014 to 2015. Companies were required to be headquartered in Greater Philadelphia, have no parent company and have generated at least $750,000 in revenue in 2013 and at least $2 million in 2015 to qualify. Results were verified with help from accounting and consulting firm CliftonLarsonAllen, LLP.
